PROMOTION TECHNIQUES



The following is a list of the recognized throws by the Kodokan, and by the United States Judo Association. There are five sets of eight, plus the 19 newly certified throws added in 1982, revised in 1997. At the end are listed the eight throws that were deleted in 1920 then reintroduced in 1982, please note throws listed that are not allowed in competition, are noted by the different type for the name. Names are listed with japanese followed by the english words. In testing you will be ask to do the throw by both the japanese and the english.
